Montessori School in Columbia

Our Montessori School in Columbia, MD is a two story building with large windows that fill the classrooms with natural light, and two spacious playgrounds designed for exploration and play.

 

Our Columbia Campus was built in 1972. Today, we serve families in Howard County and Prince George's County. 

 

We are located right off Route 29 near the Owen Brown neighborhood. Our JBS Columbia school is 6 minutes from Columbia Mall, Howard County General Hospital, and Howard Community College. ​​

Programs Offered At Our Columbia Campus

Our Toddler Program (15 months to 2.5 years) is a modified Montessori class that encourages early independence, language development, and toilet training.

 

The Primary Program (ages 2.5 to 5) invites the child to explore the 5 areas of Montessori through hands-on, child-led learning. For children in their final year of the Primary cycle, our Kindergarten Program provides a capstone experience, where students deepen their skills, take on leadership roles, and develop strong academic readiness.

Our Elementary Program (ages 6 to 9) continues the Montessori philosophy through the early elementary years, offering an academically rich and engaging curriculum. Students explore language, mathematics, science, and cultural studies in greater depth, and benefit from added enrichment in subjects like Latin and coding.

We also offer Before & After Care to support working families, as well as a summer program exclusively for JBS students.

Our Columbia classrooms are led by certified Montessori Directresses.

Julia Brown Schools is fully accredited by the Maryland State Department of Education (MSDE).
